Artists Statement.
I have been painting full time since 1997 and currently live and work on the Isle of Wight having built
up my career initially in London.
My paintings are predominantly semi-abstract landscapes, although they are often more about me
in the place than the landscape itself. I use Acrylics because they allow me to overpaint and layer
quickly.
My painting style has developed through a passion for abstract on the one hand and painterly on
the other, which often fight against each other during the painting process and sometimes one
influence dominates the other. I don’t fight that; I let it take its own course. I don’t preconceive my
paintings but usually start with an idea of colour and mood.
My hope is that people will find their own story in my work. It constantly amazes me how people
react to my paintings in the same vein as they were painted. It’s what makes it so fascinating.
