Caroline Numina

Aboriginal

Caroline Numina is an incredible Anmatyerre artist hailing from a vibrant family of six sisters and three brothers, all raised in picturesque Ti Tree, just 190km north of Alice Springs in Central Australia! With her talented mother, Barbara Mbitjana, and the guidance of her renowned aunties,

Gloria and Kathleen Petyarre Caroline found her passion for painting at a young age while attending primary school at Stirling Station. After further honing her skills at Yirara College, she returned to her roots, working the Community Development Program before her family made the exciting move to Darwin in 2000 where they continue to thrive today!

Caroline and her talented sisters - Jacinta, Selina, Lanita, Louise & Sharon are celebrated artists from Utopia, united by their deep connection to totems like the Bush Medicine Plant. With a painting style inspired by their famous Aunty Gloria Petyarre, they beautifully express this bond. Each tribe boasts its unique set of women ancestors, stories, designs, and dances, yet all share a common theme: the vital role of food gathering in lives!
