Aboriginal
Lanita Numina, one of the vibrant middle sisters in the renowned Numina Sisters, is a true gem among the six talented desert artists! With two brothers and a beloved mother still paints occasionally, Lanita's artistic journey began at the primary on Stirling Station near Tennant. Coming from a rich heritage of contemporary art and the dot-dot central desert movement, Lanita was surrounded creativity, living with her mother and aunties at Stirling Station near Ti Tree.
Though she started painting a bit later than her sisters, she learned from the best—her talented sisters and her celebrated aunts, and Kathleen Petyerre, who shine brightly in Alice Springs!
Now, Lanita resides with her sisters in Darwin, frequently traveling back to visit their wonderful mother, Barbara Price Mtjimbana. The captivating Bush Medicine Leaves Dreaming knowledge story is a cherished theme for the Numina Sisters, with many women from the Petyarre, Mambitji, and Numina families proudly keeping and sharing this beautiful legacy through their art!
